I have not found any requirements for an attorney to maintain a fax number.

I will also state that the need for a fax number, whether you use an actual fax machine or a e-fax service, depends on your area of practice and client base.

If your clientele are not as tech savvy, they may rely on the "old and true" aspect of the fax machine rather than scanning and emailing documents. If you interact with the IRS and other governmental agencies that do not accept emails, your only other options are hand delivery, regular mail and/or fax.

So to answer your question, "Are Florida lawyers required to have a fax number?" The answer is no. But the answer to another question: "Is the cost of maintaining a land line fax or e-fax service worth it?" That depends on the nature of your practice.

I hope this information helps. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
